Summary highlights:

Ho Chi Minh City: also known as Saigon, is Vietnam in high gear. To travel to Ho Chi Minh City is to be introduced to a dramatic meeting of old and new culture, a dynamic metropolis of skyscrapers and traffic juxtaposed with a wealth of ancient temples and traditional markets.

Cu Chi Tunnels: 30 miles northwest of Ho Chi Minh, a 100-minute drive. Seeing is believing, and in this case, it’s only after you have attempted to enter those tunnels you can truly comprehend the horrors of wars and the reality of life in those tunnels.

Tay Ninh with Cao Dai Temple: Indigenous to Vietnam, Cao Dai, is in fact a fusion of the teachings from Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, with elements of Christianity and Islam.

Mekong Delta/ Can Tho: Enjoy Phong Dien and Cai Rang floating markets to be a great chance to see an authentic floating market with real trading going on. With more and more transportation moved to newly build roads around Asia, this might be one of your last chances to capture a bit of the old boat to boat trading atmosphere on the Mekong.

Phnom Penh: Phnom Penh is the vibrant bustling capital of Cambodia. Situated at the confluence of three rivers, the mighty Mekong, the Bassac and the great Tonle Sap, what was once considered the ‘Gem’ of Indochina

Siem Reap/ Angkor Temple Complex: Deep in the forests of Cambodia’s Siem Reap province, the elegant spires of an ancient stone city soar skyward above the sprawling complex of Angkor Archaeological Park.

Chau Doc: the closest large town to the Vietnamese/Cambodian border crossing on the Mekong River. Take a speedboat to Phnom Penh from here.
