Co Loa Citadel Hanoi is perhaps the most ancient citadel in Viet Nam. It was built by Thuc An Duong Vuong in the 13rd century BC to be the capital ò Au Lac Kingdom (the name ò Viet Nam at the time). It was built according to a helical design and was surrounded by three ramparts and a deep moat.

Co Loa Citadel is located 18km north of the centre of Ha Noi in Co Loa Village, Dong Anh District.
